HISTORY of the JUNEE HOTEL
Established in 1878, the Junee Hotel stands as the oldest commercial building in Junee, New South Wales. Originally known as the Railway Hotel, it was founded by Christopher Crawley, a prominent local entrepreneur. Crawley later sold the hotel in 1884, using the proceeds to construct the renowned Monte Cristo Homestead, now famed as Australia's most haunted house.

Throughout its history, the Junee Hotel has been a central hub for the community. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it served as a meeting place for the Light Horse Brigade and early editions of Junee’s Southern Cross newspaper were printed in a shed at the back of the hotel. Architecturally, the hotel showcases elements of the Federation Filigree style, characterised by ornate cast ironwork and intricate detailing, high ceilings reflecting the design trends of the late 19th century.

The Hotel serves delicious meals made from locally-sourced ingredients and offers a variety of dishes to suit all tastes. The bar is well-stocked with a range of local and international beers, wines & spirits, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring the town or the region. In May 2023, the hotel entered a new chapter under the stewardship of Brendon and Emma Reynolds. Recognizing the building's historical significance, they undertook extensive renovations to restore its former glory while introducing modern amenities. Their efforts have revitalized the hotel ensuring it remains a cherished landmark in Junee's townscape. Junee Hotel is centrally located, making it the perfect base for exploring the town and its surrounding areas.

The hotel is within walking distance of many local attractions, including the Junee Railway Station Museum, Broadway Museum and the Junee Roundhouse Museum and the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory. T he Canola trail in Spring is magical. Visitors can also explore the picturesque countryside, enjoy a round of golf at the local golf course or visit nearby wineries to taste some of the region's best wines.
