A Historic Riverina Pub
The Junee Hotel stands proudly as one of the historic pubs of the Riverina.
Visitors stepping inside the building can still experience many of the architectural features that reflect the era in which it was built. Upstairs, the accommodation rooms feature original beautiful pressed metal ceilings, a reminder of the craftsmanship and design of 19th-century Australian hotels.
These heritage details create a unique atmosphere that blends history with the comfort of a welcoming country pub.

A New Chapter Begins
In May 2023, a heartfelt renovation began under the stewardship of Brendon and Emma Reynolds. Preserving both history and potential in equal measure, they embarked on a mission to restore the hotel’s former charm - while infusing it with modern comfort.
After a year leasing the property, they took the leap to become its owners in May 2024, driven by their belief in the building’s future and the importance of preserving community heritage.

About the Historic Junee Hotel
A Country Pub in the Heart of Junee and the Riverina since 1878
The Junee Hotel is a historic country pub located in the heart of Junee NSW, a proud railway town in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Since opening its doors in 1878, the hotel has welcomed travellers, railway workers, locals and visitors exploring the Riverina.
More than a place to enjoy a meal or a drink, the Junee Hotel is part of the story of the town itself, a place where history, hospitality and community come together.
Today the Junee Hotel continues that tradition by offering great pub meals, cold drinks, comfortable accommodation and genuine country hospitality for visitors travelling through regional NSW.
Built on Railway History
Junee is known as one of the great railway towns of Australia. In the late 1800s, the expansion of the railway network transformed the town into a major transport hub connecting Sydney, Melbourne, and regional New South Wales.
As the railway grew, so did the need for places where workers and travellers could rest, eat and gather.
The Junee Hotel opened in 1878, becoming a central meeting place for railway workers, farmers, travellers and the growing local community. Its location in the centre of town made it a natural hub for conversation, business and social life. The Hotel was built prior to the Post office, the bank and was the Railway Station ticket office before the building was built.
More than a century later, the spirit of that railway town hospitality still lives on within the walls of the hotel.
The journey began in 1878, when local entrepreneur Christopher Crawley founded what was then known as the Railway Hotel - a name reflecting both its purpose and proximity to the tracks. In 1884, Crawley sold the venue to fund the construction of the famed Monte Cristo Homestead, now known as Australia’s most haunted house.
Through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the hotel emerged as a vibrant community hub - hosting the Light Horse Brigade and even serving as the original print site for the Southern Cross newspaper in a small shed out back.
Its iconic Federation Filigree architecture, with elaborate cast ironwork and soaring ceilings, still gives a nod to its historic roots.
